This is part of a pass of the American satellite NOAA-14 over my QTH in
the South of England at about 15:00 UTC on 20 June 1999. It shows the weather
front that gave us the previous night's rain now lying across northern
France and the low countries, while the British Isles enjoyed a day of
scattered cumulus clouds with a moderate to fresh W to NW wind. This picture
is a false-colour composite of visible/near IR and thermal IR. Blue-white
clouds are cold, therefore high. Greenish cloud is lower and warmer. This
picture gives a good idea of the quality to be obtained with less than
perfect reception conditions.
